Thought higher education course fees paid for year just completed but not . . .?

i have just finished second year of foundation degree in applied arts - PART TIME. Problem is that i thought i had applied to the college for funding of course and expenses but it comes to light this is not the case. I now have a debt collection agency wanting �1700, im a lone parent, longterm illness (mental health), on benefits, no ets, owe money everywhere as been attending college on benefit payments which only just cover basic living let alone college expenses. Dont know where to turn to try and get a grant to cover this short fall or even if it is possible. Wont be able to return to college due to the financial nightmare and unable to use skills learnt so far as this involves outlay for kiln, clay, glazes etc so earning ability to help me out of this mess not good either. HELP
